11+ Entrance Exams
11+ Exam refers to competitive school Entrance Exams that are typically required for entrance to selective independent and grammar schools in the UK. Entry into these schools is naturally highly selective. 25% of the syllabus is not taught in schools and this leaves a substantial gap in student’s knowledge. Our tutors are experts in 11+ examinations and prepare students from year 4 in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Numerical and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Lessons are planned using schemes from CEM (Centre for Evaluation & Monitoring at the University of Durham) and GL Assessment exam boards. 11+ tutoring will prove to be invaluable later on in your child’s life as they prepare for their SATs, GCSE’s and further education.
Our 11+ syllabus covers some of the following topics:
English – Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG), Vocabulary, Word Types, Writing & Comprehension
Maths – Numerical Reasoning, Numbers & Place Value, Addition & Subtraction, Multiplication & Division, Fractions, Percentages. Units & Measures, Shapes & Space
Verbal Reasoning – Missing Letters, Odd Words, Analogy, Multiple Meanings, Ordering Words, Cloze Questions
Non-Verbal Reasoning – Spotting Patterns, Similarities and Differences, Pairs, Series & Grid, Rotation & Reflection, 3D Shapes.
9/10 of our students were offered a place at an independent or grammar school in September 2017.
